H.O.T. Carnival still on, ignore misinformation!

I say 'ignore misinformation' because a friend missed the Pram Race because he was told it had been cancelled! Poor him, and he was all ready to go too; I won't say where he was drinking that had customers full of this rubbish, I've heard too much this week. Events ARE going ahead, including today (Thursday 8th), between 5.30 and 6.30pm, the Donut Eating Competition at Butlers Gap in George Street, eat all you can in a muinute (website); try not to throw up! Also, from 6.00 to 8.00pm, at Hastings Adventure Golf course, the Winkle Club Crazy Golf competition (website). For events today go to the website. For events tomorrow (Friday 9th) go to the website, including the Gurning Competition 6.00 to 6.30pm at Butlers Gap (website).

World Crazy Golf Championships in Hastings this week!

If you've wandered along the seafront this week you'll have noticed that the Crazy Golf course appears busier than usual from quite early in the day. Well, this is because this weekend sees the World Crazy Golf Championships (website) return this weekend, and there's plenty of practice going on, with entrants from around the world, as far away from here as Australia and the USA!
From tomorrow (Thursday 6th) the crazy golf course will not be open to the general public, until it reopens after the Champiopnships finish Sunday evening. However, don't be alarmed if you want to play as the Pirate and Adventure golf courses will still be open to all throughout this period. There will be many excellent players competing in the championships, don't be surprised at the efficiency displayed, and also a few also-rans, like myself, but please don't laugh at us, we're trying our best. £thousands in prize money across many categories, good luck to all those who enter.

World Crazy Golf Championships 2023 this Weekend!

Indeed, this weekend does see the World Crazy Golf Championships again held at Hastings Adventure Golf crazy golf course (website).

I'll not be partaking this year due to a couple of unavoidable reasons, no loss to the competition, but very good luck to all those who are competing!

Results @ the website.

World Crazy Golf 2022 and Pirate Golf Enclosure!

OK, this is what the Pirate Golf Course at Hastings Adventure Golf (website) is going to look like reasonably soon (above, from one angle, and below from another), permission has been approved for the enclosure of that course (facebook).

And while on the subject of Crazy Golf in Hastings... This weekend sees the World Crazy Golf Championships 2022, which will be held on the traditional crazy golf course at Hastings Adventure Golf (website). What this means is that, unless you are a competitor, members of the public cannot use that course for the 4 days, Thursday to Sunday (9-12 June), but can still use the Pirate and Adventure courses. There will be official practice Thursday and Friday for competitors, and competitions begin Friday evening, with the main competitions on Saturday and Sunday.

Yes, I have been silly enough to enter again, so if you want a laugh, feel free to come and see me floundering near the rear, whatever, enjoy the weekend, I may not! 😉

2022 - A Quiet Beginning...

I'm not really a 'killjoy' but I've never been into celebrating the New Year coming in/Old Year's Night, and, taking notice of the pandemic's persistence, I didn't really want to enter anywhere that had too many others crammed into it, so I had a quiet time on the 31st of December and on the 1st of January. Being in the Planet Hastings Crazy Golf Club, I did take part in our 'friendly' New Year Knockabout, and yes it was a wee bit competitive... 😉 2 of the members in the image above (it was a bit chilly) finished in the top 3, David H coming first; this after us all playing on each of the 3 courses at Hastings Adventure Golf (website), and well done to all, particularly Mr H!*

Talking about COVID-19 and the incidence in Hastings, as in all over Europe, has been increasing significantly, particularly among younger people, although we're still significantly below the national (huge) average with over a thousand infected individuals in Hastings, which works out as 1,160 per 100,000 in the week ending the 1st of January, compared to the 1,676 per 100,000 average in England (BBC).

So, remember to stay safe folks!

* I came 12th... 😀 out of 12 😏 as I'm not much cop... Happy New Year!

Congratulations to all that took part!

Even More Championship Minigolf: 2021 British Open this Weekend!

The 2021 British Open is being held on the Pirate Course at Hastings Adventure Golf this Weekend, so, unless you are entered in the competition, and you want to play this weekend, you will have to give the Pirate Course a miss from Friday the 24th to Sunday the 26th September. For details, please go to the website, and wish me luck again that I don't come last... I'm not very good 😎

The weather forecast isn't too bad, may be a bit damp, whatever, enjoy the weekend!

World Crazy Golf Results.

Well, I've been otherwise occupied, not doing very well, at the World Crazy Golf Championships 2021 (previous blog) which were held over the weekend. But, many competitors did very well indeed!

So my congratulations go to David Jermey, who won the Novice competition, Marc Chapman, who again won the Pro competition, and although the results page doesn't mention all the events, one I do know, and my congratulations also go to the 2 Davids and Marion who made up the Planet Pensioners winners in the Team competition!

To see the full results of the Novice and Pro competitions go to this website.

World Crazy Golf Championships return to Hastings for 2021

Indeed, the COVID-19 Crisis has meant that the World Crazy Golf Championships have not been held for over 2 years now, but this weekend they return to Hastings Adventure Golf Crazy Golf Course, 10-12th September, full details at their website.

I believe entries have been completed now, and it looks as though there are 147 entrants, or thereabouts, and I have been railroaded into competing again, so expect to see me down at about 146, I'm not very good 😁

Anyway, the forecast looks okay, and take it from me, the better players are amazingly good at crazy golf, could be worth having a look, fingers crossed for me please!

Missing Snow in Hastings? A Few Photographs...

Cricketer at Priory Meadow

Whilst much of the country has had snow today it's rained here, but dry mostly, indeed we haven't had proper snowfall for a while, so here's some images not taken today. Maybe not to everyone's liking, snow, but I love it, enjoy the images if you do too!

Adventure Golf & West Hill

Fishing Beach & East Hill

Beach Huts and Pier

Be safe folks, and wrap up well! 😉

Another Weekend & More Open!

Good to see The Albion, 33 George Street (and opposite the Minigolf) TN34 3EA, back open again (facebook). As with Guidance, seating throughout and table service only for now. The large Scottish Bar, George Street side, is now used solely as a restaurant, and in the Seafront Bar and the outside area you may sit and just enjoy a few drinks, or eat there as well of course; tables can be booked at their website.

The Jolly Fisherman, 3 East Beach Street TN34 3AR (website) is now open for takeaway drinks, Thursday 6-8pm, Friday/Saturday 3-7pm, Sunday 1-5pm, plus they are now making deliveries on Thursday afternoons. They are open for table service too, Thursday to Sunday I believe, but you need to book a table, their website tells you how.

The Ferris Wheel has been in action for a while, and Flamingo Park (facebook), East Beach Street (opposite the Jolly Fisherman) has reopened too. It looks like all the amusement arcades are open as well, and the children's playground in-between Hastings Adventure Golf and the beach is open again, and not to forget the minigolf has been going for a few weeks now, so a bit more for children to do again!

Hastings Pier, 1-10 White Rock TN34 1JY, is open again (apologies for older photograph, but I've not visited for a while now, but I do need to get there very soon, maybe this weekend!) and under new management; the structure is still owned by the dodgy bloke from Eastbourne, however, the business is apparently now run by an operating consortium led by James & Mustapha/Music First (facebook), and very friendly to all locals again! Also, there is now a HUGE beer garden area, or Bier Garden (what they call it), and open air live music... I have to visit!

And am I still maintaining my daily walking exercise? Well most days anyway, this was a photograph I took from Fairlight this morning, looking back across Warren Glen.

Whatever you do, have a good weekend, but remember to maintain social distancing etc, as it's not over yet, be careful folks!

Crazy Crazy Golf!

Yesterday saw the inaugural Ted's Planet Hastings Seasonal Sprouting competition at the Adventure Golf Course, and I was coaxed into taking part, indeed, I feel like I am being 'groomed' into joining Planet Hastings! It was a beautiful morning, just a tad cool, and the competition involved 2 rounds, one over the Pirate course, and a 'crazy crazy' round over the conventional Crazy Golf course.

Dave G won overall, and a good time was had, and with a few bevvies afterwards. I came in the bottom half as expected; see the Planet Hastings facebook page for full results. And well organised Ted, many thanks!

Minigolf British Open this weekend

This weekend, on the Pirate Course at Hastings Adventure Golf on the seafront, sees the 2019 BMGA British Open (website), Saturday 14th to Sunday 15th September; and today (Friday 13th) is the Players' Championship.

If you want to see international level minigolf played by people who make me feel quite inept at the game go along and be surprised at how good they are!

We went round with a British International (Dave G), 5 of us in all, and a total of £298.50 was raised for the Winkle Club, nice one! PS I didn't play very well...

Carnival Week, Wednesday

It's not just about the Pram Race, but it's mostly about the Pram Race on a Wednesday during Hastings Old Town Carnival Week, so I've included impressive prams from the recent past for both images... So, what else is there on Wednesday (website)? Not to forget the continuation of Guess the Weight of the Cheese, and other events, there is also from 6.00 pm the charity Winkle Club's Annual Putting Competition at Hastings Adventure Golf (website), please do join in!

Then, in the evening is the Pram Race, not for the faint hearted, but an event that raises £thousands for charity every year, the local roads are closed off from 6.00 pm, the event going on from 7.00 pm until 11 pm (website), and it gives you the chance to walk safely in the middle of the road for a few hours! And not a few pints are supped...
