Returning to Normal, gradually, Step 2... or really Step 3?

So, we reach Step 2 or 3 on Monday 12th April, depending on if you can count or not, or if you believe that the last step was a mezzanine floor 😉 (blog), and things are gradually reopening from then, it appears. Not to forget that 'non-essential' shops are reopening, and I still don't know how they thought that clothes are inessential, oh yes, and hair dressing and hair cutting, beards etc etc... I used the image above as the Ferris Wheel is due to be open for business too, good stuff, all being well...

Regarding hospitality, only outdoor eating and drinking is allowed from Monday, having to wait until May and when the 3rd or 4th step comes into force for drinkers, and people who enjoy eating out, to be treated like humans at last, although it will still come with mitigations as happened last year. The Pier will have its 'outdoor garden' drinking area, as can already be seen towards the end of the Pier, and at least another 13 pubs have confirmed they will be opening, including the Dolphin Inn, Jenny Lind, Stag Inn, Carlisle, Imperial, Marina Fountain, Bull Inn and Harrow Inn (Observer).

And other attractions, like the Blue Reef Aquarium, will be reopening, but check websites or telephone beforehand, for any restrictions, or if pre-booking is required. And the COVID-19 Crisis is nowhere near over yet...

So please do not forget to wash your hands regularly, maintain social distancing and wear masks where appropriate, stay safe folks! 👍

Another Weekend & More Open!

Good to see The Albion, 33 George Street (and opposite the Minigolf) TN34 3EA, back open again (facebook). As with Guidance, seating throughout and table service only for now. The large Scottish Bar, George Street side, is now used solely as a restaurant, and in the Seafront Bar and the outside area you may sit and just enjoy a few drinks, or eat there as well of course; tables can be booked at their website.

The Jolly Fisherman, 3 East Beach Street TN34 3AR (website) is now open for takeaway drinks, Thursday 6-8pm, Friday/Saturday 3-7pm, Sunday 1-5pm, plus they are now making deliveries on Thursday afternoons. They are open for table service too, Thursday to Sunday I believe, but you need to book a table, their website tells you how.

The Ferris Wheel has been in action for a while, and Flamingo Park (facebook), East Beach Street (opposite the Jolly Fisherman) has reopened too. It looks like all the amusement arcades are open as well, and the children's playground in-between Hastings Adventure Golf and the beach is open again, and not to forget the minigolf has been going for a few weeks now, so a bit more for children to do again!

Hastings Pier, 1-10 White Rock TN34 1JY, is open again (apologies for older photograph, but I've not visited for a while now, but I do need to get there very soon, maybe this weekend!) and under new management; the structure is still owned by the dodgy bloke from Eastbourne, however, the business is apparently now run by an operating consortium led by James & Mustapha/Music First (facebook), and very friendly to all locals again! Also, there is now a HUGE beer garden area, or Bier Garden (what they call it), and open air live music... I have to visit!

And am I still maintaining my daily walking exercise? Well most days anyway, this was a photograph I took from Fairlight this morning, looking back across Warren Glen.

Whatever you do, have a good weekend, but remember to maintain social distancing etc, as it's not over yet, be careful folks!

A Sad Sight...

They went to all that bother to get it ready for Easter, and here it is this morning (on my way home from my approved by the Government exercise/early morning walk, have to add that to avoid being reported on by informants to the Coronapolice 😉), 'our' Ferris Wheel, and it still hasn't been used in 2020, what a year... 😒

Ferris Wheel Returns...

I meant to post this the other day, but other events overtook me, apologies, but it appears the Ferris Wheel should be back in action by the beach for Easter.

A Quiet Weekend

I've had a very quiet weekend, I know there are all sorts of markets and Christmas thingies going on, but I really just wanted a nice quiet weekend, so I'm having one. I had a wander into the 'old town' yesterday morning, and noticed that the Ferris Wheel (older blog), down in-between Flamingo Park and the beach, has been folded down, presumably for the winter. Why does this mean so much to me and my peace and tranquility? Well, in the early hours, when it is still dark, and when windy, it makes one hell of a spooky noise as the wind blows through the structure, so I'll have a more peaceful, less spooky walk to Rock-a-Nore for the next few months, many thanks!

RX134 - The Stacey Marie

Why I was actually heading towards Rock-a-Nore Road was to take some photographs, with blue sky at last, of RX134, The Stacey Marie, a bit of a passion (blog).

Happy end to the Weekend!

A Big (ish) Wheel in Hastings!

So, a Ferris Wheel has arrived in Hastings, here poking out in a wee bit of fog this morning; though I have seen a film of it working at night (many thanks to Sid Saunders for allowing me to link to his film on facebook, cheers!) and it looks fun. Apparently a few local residents have been upset, we'll have to see how it develops.

The wheel is just on the beach, in front of Flamingo Park, by the Go-Carts...
