Hastings This Weekend, 14/15 May 2022

As I said in my blog recently, the Hastings Runners 5 Mile Road Race returns tomorrow, starting in-between the Town Hall/Registry Office and cinema in Queens Road at 09.30, and finishing at the same site a while later! 

All being well with the weather tomorrow afternoon, and light rain may appear (Met Office), there will be live music on Hastings Pier between 3.00 and 7.00 pm in the Bier Garden; see older blog. Talking of music, Hastings Record Fair (Facebook) returns tomorrow between 10.00 am and 3.00 pm at Ore Community Centre, TN35 5BH.

Hastings Runners 5 Mile Road Race Returns

Hastings Runners 5 Mile Road Race returns to the town on Sunday 15th May 2022, and it will be its 15th anniversary (visit1066country). The race starts (from 09.30) and finishes at the Queens Road Town Hall/Registry Office. For more information about Hastings Runners go to their website. Welcome back! 

Sunday's 5 Mile Race & Mini Golf Results

Apologies for the delay in publishing these results, but I had technical problems yesterday, as in, I couldn't get online, but it appears fixed now!

The 13th Hastings Runners 5 Mile Race was held on Sunday (the 13th, no problems, I believe), the start & finish above, outside the Town Hall, Queens Road; in the image, runners had only just started congregating. The results were: Male 1st Gary Foster 25:43 (Hastings AC), 2nd Oliver Prior 26:28  (Ashford AC), 3rd George Pool 26:48 (Hastings AC); Female 1st Lizzie Clarke 28:51 (Hastings AC), 2nd Rachael Grass 30:20 (Hastings AC), 3rd Emma Navesey 30:32 (Haywards Heath Harriers); full results.

Meanwhile, the British Mini Golf Championship 2018, played at Hastings Adventure Golf over the weekend, finished on Sunday too (see previous blog and blog). The results here were: Male 1st Michael Smith, 2nd Chris Wood, 3rd Will Donnelly, following an 8-hole play off; Female 1st Ruth Burke, 2nd Helen Dodd, 3rd Marion Hartley, nice one Maz! Hastings Runners Annual 5 Mile Race

The start and finish at the Town Hall, Queens Road... I couldn't follow the Hastings Runners Keith Chandler 5 Mile Race itself, as I had other plans yesterday, but the provisional results can be seen at this blog site:

Hastings 11th Five Mile Race!

Hastings Runners 5 Mile Race (website) started at 10.30 this morning, getting ready.

Just before the 'off', some giving each other support...

A Sunday in Hastings pre-Mardi Gras!

What can I say? Even the weekend before Mardi Gras, or 'Fat Tuesday' (in English/Hastings) isn't just about dressing up, music, drinking and partying...

Hastings Runners had their annual Eastbourne Pier to Hastings Pier run today, except now it continues past the pier to East Hastings Sea Angling Club and the Lifeboat Station, circa 16 miles, with a shorter run from Cooden  Beach Hotel, for those only fancying an 8 mile jog. As seen here, I was being overtaken by runners as I walked to the Stade...

When I arrived, I noticed the lifeboat being manoeuvred back into the station as it had been out on a training exercise. This photograph includes the main lifeboat, the smaller one, their tractor and the station all in one shot, which seemed the appropriate photograph to post on this blog.

I'd come to catch the build up to the Umbrella Parade, but as I had to be at St Mary in the Castle before 12 noon, I couldn't wait for the start. However, here they are starting to form up for the parade...

As I was helping out at the Jazz festival, with its beer and cider bar, I got there before the parade turned up, above... Lots of noise, jollity, music, banter and beer and cider ensued, but that's another story, fun was had, indeed, cheers!
