Uke 'N' Party too!

Following the return last Tuesday of the Tune Raiders to the Dolphin Inn, Rock-a-Nore Road, and their own 'Oirish' sound, this evening sees the (also regular at the Nelson) regular monthly visit of ukuleles and Uke 'N' Party (facebook event page) at the Dolphin from 8.30pm!

So, now 3 regular monthly Tuesday night slots at the Dolphin, Uke 'N' Party, the Tune Raiders, and Mojo Calling (see last months blog). However, another excellent local act could be filling the vacant Tuesday in the month very soon, watch this space!

Of course, there is regular live music every Friday and Saturday evening at the Dolphin too, not to mention the odd Sunday or Public Holiday afternoon gig, and, of course, live music all over town most days of every week, Hastings the place to live!

Tune Raiders on hold...

Sadly, the regular Tuesday evening slot of the Tune Raiders at the Dolphin Inn, Rock-a-Nore Road, has ended after about 4 years due to various reasons, so Tuesdays have changed there. This Tuesday just gone, I missed a number of the Ukulele people who play every 2 weeks on Fridays round the corner at the Lord Nelson in The Bourne (next a week today on the 9th of February, I believe). They'll be returning to the Dolphin again on the evening of Tuesday 20th February as Uke 'n' Party, which I'm told was excellent this Tuesday, so well worth a visit there, and to the Lord Nelson of course!

Next Tuesday, the 6th February, at the Dolphin will be folk music by Mojo Calling, and, of course, on the 13th is Fat Tuesday (see previous blog or the Fat Tuesday website).

Expect to see varying gigs and events at the Dolphin Inn from now on Tuesday evenings, and don't be surprised to see fiddly diddly Oirish Tune Raiders return at some time, best wishes to them all and their families!

I'm back again!

Back from spending time with my brother, and also seeing his wife and daughter, not to mention this wee chap! I was going to get a fix of Irish fiddly dee folk music this evening, with the Tune Raiders at the Dolphin Inn, but, sadly, they are not holding their regular Tuesday evening gig there for the foreseeable future, at least... Anyone know of Irish music elsewhere in Hastings & St Leonards please?

Talking of Irish music, sad news about Dolores O'Riordan, and so young, R.I.P.

Music Month and Hastings Week Continue...

Hastings Music Month continues, this evening with Lulu and Wasp playing at the White Rock Theatre opposite the Pier, and the Tune Raiders playing at the Dolphin Inn in Rock-a-Nore Road (indeed, their regular weekly slot); see website for details of these and other planned gigs this week.

In addition, Hastings Week poodles along, with not so much happening until the weekend, though the organisers of the next few days events would disagree with such a statement, so go to the website and find out more!

Hastings 29 September to 1 October 2017

Well, with Hastings Week to start next weekend, you'd think this weekend would be quiet, but, of course, that would be silly of me to suggest! There will be the usual gigs in pubs and bars, numerous eating places in which to dine, you could visit the museums and parks, the aquarium, castle and caves, miniature railways, theatres, Pier of the Year and seafront (decent forecast for Saturday), oh yes! The Hastings & St Leonards Coastal Currents Arts Festival 2017 ends on Sunday 1st October, so still 3 days of that to go (see website for further details of individual events), and...

Skinny Lister

Hastings Music Month continues until the end of October, quite a long month indeed! To help celebrate Music Month, Stade Saturdays (website) features Skinny Lister (website) on the stage at the Stade Open Space tomorrow (30th September) from 7.30pm. For more details of Music Month events go to the website, an eclectic mix including classical music, folk and Lulu at the White Rock Theatre; do also note the error, though, as the Tune Raiders will be playing at the Dolphin Inn every Tuesday as they always do, and not playing at the Blue Dolphin fish & chip shop!

Continue to enjoy yourselves!

Tuesday 22nd of August...

Tomorrow afternoon, Tuesday 22nd August, if you're free, please do join the Old Hastings Preservation Society (OHPS) for their regular Tuesday walking tour of Hastings Old Town, the "premier ancient Cinque Port." They'll be meeting up by the top of the West Hill lift at 2.30pm. The old town has a wealth of historic buildings, twittens and cat-creeps to explore, and you will find out why celebrities of their day, eg the Pre-Raphaelites, flocked to Hastings. Indeed, contemporary celebrities still do flock here! A volunteer guide will be leading the walk, which shall proceed gently downhill, but, do be careful, because there are steps to manage during the walk. The walk will last about 2 hours and is provided free of charge, though, obviously, the OHPS would be very grateful for all donations given, many thanks, see their website.

It's worth wearing comfortable walking shoes, obviously, and the forecast suggests reasonable weather, so do enjoy the afternoon!

Then, during the evening starting at 9pm, will be the regular Tuesday music played by the Tune Raiders at the Dolphin Inn, 11-12 Rock-a-Nore Road, TN34 3DW. They play non-vocal Irish folk music, mainly, what is know locally as 'fiddly dee' music, or is that 'diddly dee?' Of course, we all know that Hastings has a wealth of free music venues to visit on most days, so it's always well worth a wander round town, particularly the old town to seek out live music. Enjoy your evening too!

Dolphin Inn Games Night Tonight...

In the Dolphin Inn, Rock-a-Nore Road, tonight, no, not the usual Irish music of the Tune Raiders, but a change, for this evening, to a Pub Games Night, and believe me, there are many more games than just depicted in the poster, including what we used to call Boxo, when I used to play it at a pub near where I used to work, when you were still allowed to go to the pub from work, indeed, went with your bosses!

Anyhow, I digress, if you want some fun, go to the Dolphin tonight, and I believe there may be some nibbles available too...
