Quick Update!

I have already been out for my regular daily exercise, but I didn't take any photographs this morning, though I did meet up, by chance, with a couple I know (5 metres away from each other obviously!) and I saw a regular morning runner who I seem to be becoming buddies with too! Anyway, the photograph above I took earlier this year, lovely blue sky, so I thought it would cheer us all up a wee bit... 

So, an update? Indeed, in my blog published yesterday I shared information about bank and supermarket opening times, well, today I visited Tesco Express in Havelock Road, but it didn't open until 10.00 am, whereas it was open at 08.00 am yesterday (Sunday)! They do have a nice touch there, though, antiseptic handwash for customers to use on entering and on leaving the shop, nice one, many thanks! Anyway, I suppose I don't want to share just this one change of opening time, but suggest that, over the coming weeks and months, things are likely to be changing very quickly, so please bear that in mind if anything I write suddenly becomes out of date, and keep safe folks!

Seniors' Forum: Health & Hobbies Fair/Pier Opening Times

The Hastings & St Leonards Seniors' Forum is holding a Health & Hobbies Fair to mark Older People's Day (though, actually, the Sunday just gone was the International Day of Older Persons, UN website, aka Older People's Day) on the Pier this Wednesday 4th October, starting at 10.30. This is a free event, and more details can be found at the Hastings Pier website.

In addition, the Pier’s opening times are now: 

Sun – Thurs: 10am-5pm

Fri and Sat: 10am-10pm 

To ease running costs during quieter Autumn/Winter months the Pavilion restaurant will close on Mondays and Tuesdays. A pop-up café will run on the Upper Deck or in The Deck building (depending on the weather).

The Deck building will be open from 10am-5pm every day. (website)

Hastings Pier Food & Drink, plus new opening times.

I wandered onto the Pier t'other day, quite beautiful weather, and decided to investigate the food and beverage facilities, now that the Hastings Pier Charity has taken over running the catering facilities in the Pavilion and on the Upper Deck Bar & Terrace, and it all looks pretty good indeed. This isn't about the food, as I haven't eaten there yet, but I did like the look of the breakfast menu (more of very soon, I imagine), and other menus, and the fish & chip bar at this end of the Pavilion (in my photograph) is providing typical seaside fare of course; oh yes, and locally sourced produce is used, including freshly caught fish from the Hastings Fishing Industry down at the Stade.  It is still very early days, of course, having only taken over catering since the beginning of July, but I was assured that things will only get better! Facilities include the bars, of course, ale from East Sussex brewer Harveys, including their own bottled ale (and I do know what it is!), a good wine list, and hot and cold soft drinks. It does look good too inside, and with the side of the Pavilion open in the lovely weather, as not too much wind on this day, though it is amazing the protection you get from the glass up on the Upper Deck when there is a strong wind! 

Oh yes, new opening times of the Pier from Monday 4th September: 

Sunday to Wednesday 10am to 7pm

Thursday to Saturday 10am to 10pm

The Deck Building and shop will be open 10am to 5pm every day.

Hastings Pier is open 7 days a week. Current opening times are as follows:

Monday-Wednesday: 10am-5pm
Thursday: 10am-9pm
Friday: 10am-10pm
Saturday: 9am-10pm
Sunday: 9am-6pm

The Deck building is open from 10am-5pm every day.

Hastings Pier: Revised opening times from 3 October 2016.

Not just revised opening times (and look at my previous blog concerning opening times during October regarding booking to fish from the Pier), but much more you can arrange here, for example, the Pier is licensed for weddings, not to mention providing for wedding breakfasts, other celebrations, conferences, and don't forget early bookings for Christmas Parties these days (see website for further details)!

From Monday 3rd October, opening times for the Pier and Pavilion Restaurant & Bar:
