Crime Wave hits Hastings this morning!?!

Follow that duck... What duck?!? Well, as you can see (above, just now), the duck outside M&S, one of the two I photographed for an earlier blog about the money raising initiative for St Michel's Hospice, well it's only been lifted!

Oh yes, and before 08.00 this morning I'd already seen 2 cyclists going the wrong way down one-way streets, is there no stopping this crime wave?!? 😕

Irresponsible Cyclists... The Law's coming for you, hopefully!

Let's see, the plagues of anti-social Hastings includes dog owners who don't pick up their dog's excrement, irresponsible cyclists, oh yes, and gulls! Gulls' behaviour is unlikely to ever change, though people should stop feeding them, simples, but... It takes the loss of innocent pedestrians' lives (BBC) to change cyclists' behaviour, it appears. For goodness sake, there's a road to the left of these cyclists, above, and a cycle path over to the right, yet they're riding on the pavement, which the Law says is unlawful: "Rule 64 - You MUST NOT cycle on a pavement." (Government website).

Keep on keeping on!

A sign on the seafront... at least some Hastings folk are keeping up the stance against anti-social behaviour exhibited by a Hastingers minority, dog poo, riding cycles on the pavement (and I WAS very nearly hit by a cycle earlier on today, lucky for the cyclist concerned he didn't hit me!), and, even more dangerous, speeding and mounting pavements in Hastings narrow streets (recent blog) has to be stopped!

I haven't moaned for a while, but...

Cyclists! Where they shouldn't be, what is the point of cycle paths, and the road, for that matter? Anyway, rather than post hundreds of photographs, which I could, very easily, how about an artistic image? I'm pleased with my, OK, limited, artistic ability...

I haven't moaned for ages!

I was going to include this a short while ago, but, Jack in the Green, and the elections, were much nicer subjects... I had recently walked through Bottle Alley to see EIGHT piles of dog excrement, many thanks to the owners for not clearing up after their dogs; that's irony, by the way! I had hoped that by adding a bit of filler, and repainting the results, would help ensure people using Bottle Alley would become more responsible, silly me...

Anyway, that previous photograph also helps to show how some cyclists ignore the Highway Code and by-laws, as that particular cyclist just flew past me (dangerous speed!) after cycling over the message above; he must be either blind (good balance!), illiterate (quite possibly), or ignorant (more likely!). So, I could use that photograph as a means to highlight 2 of my pet hates of how unsocial people can be...

Of course, there are many photographs of some cyclists giving the majority of responsible cyclists a bad name, notably by using pavements/pedestrian walkways, when a road is to his right, and a cycle path is only yards over to his left...

Ignoring the signs to his left!

AND MANY MORE!

OK, she's using the road, but going the wrong way down a one-way street!

Again, this cyclist has a road to his right, and a cycle path to his left, both of which he is legally allowed to use! But these are just a few photographs, it's not a question of young or old, male or female, rich or poor, cyclists from all walks of life don't give a toss for us, those who are pedestrians, or the law, sad days...

Council adds Park to Dangerous Routes for Pedestrians!

So, the Council has seen fit to agree to allow a cycle route through the peaceful, excellently designed, Victorian Alexandra Park...

The pavements of Hastings are already dangerous to walk on, due to irresponsible cyclists preferring riding at speed along them rather keeping to the law, ie by riding on designated cycle paths or the road, now the Council agrees to let cyclists bomb through this gorgeous park, previously safe to walk through, well, I shan't be walking through it as soon as the cycle routes are introduced...

Shame such a great resource is being taken from us!

Yet MORE Anti-Social Behaviour!

I don't feel the need to take a photograph of an offending pile, but you know what I mean today! OK, I know I moan about anti-social behaviour every now and then, but it really is not nice... I walked out of my front door a few weeks ago, which opens directly onto the pavement, and you can guess what I just about missed stepping in, and this wasn't the first time! Indeed, a friend of mine had the misfortune to step into mess recently, and the frequency of having to dodge piles of poo isn't decreasing. Sort it out dog owners, as with most things, the vast majority are decent human beings, but...

While I'm moaning, I'll repeat a moan about cyclists riding on pavements, notably, when a cycle path is close by... Just a thought, why doesn't it become legal for cyclists to ride on pavements instead of a cycle path if close by, then pedestrians could use the cycle path (which cyclists would be banned from), or shall we then call it a 'footpath'?!?

Further thoughts... What about licences for both dogs and cycles, could be totally self-financing and it would help to create jobs?
