Happy New Year!

Sad that wars in Europe and the Middle East continue, and concern about conflict elsewhere too. Millions are having to survive without food, clean water, light and heating, and not just in the developing world, but in Europe because of the designs of a dictator. As I say regularly, we thought the world changed following 1945, at least in Europe, but it seems not. However, I remain an optimist, and trust things will improve in 2025, despite neo-Fascists in the West and religious fundamentalists gaining power worldwide. Yet I wish to share my hope for peace and true goodwill to the people of Hastings and everyone worldwide, fingers crossed. Happy New Year!

Seasons Greetings!

I give thanks to all those who continue to look after us, including carers, those working in the emergency services, the police, fire fighters, ambulance staff and paramedics, the NHS, doctors, nurses, other health professionals and ancillary staff, and the brave crews and volunteers of the RNLI lifeboat service. Respect! 💓 And many thanks to Charles Schulz for the imagery. 👍
Finally, with continuing wars, including in Europe and Syria, the rise of neo-fascism in Western countries and Russia, and the increasing rise of religious fundamentalism and intolerance, I'll keep my fingers crossed, and pass my best wishes to you, and wish for peace and goodwill to all, whatever one's beliefs, let's work together to protect our freedoms and the Earth folks. 👌

Peace on Earth...

Sad that 2023 saw the continuation of a major war in Europe, and a newer one starting in the Middle East, and worries and fighting in the Americas, Asia and Africa too. There remain millions of refugees fleeing wars and poverty. Inflation appears to be lowering, but still there.  Millions are having to survive without food, clean running water, light and heating, and not just in the developing world, but in Europe, because of the paranoid or megalomaniac designs of an individual. As I said last year, we thought the world had changed following 1945, at least in Europe, but it remains not so...

However, I am an optimistic soul, consequently, I trust that things will improve in 2024, and I wish to share my hope for peace and true goodwill to the people of Hastings and everyone worldwide, fingers crossed...

Happy New Year! 🎉

PS Can you believe the names of some of the new members proposed for the House of Lords?!? And a knighthood proposed for that absolutely evil bampot Tim Martin! 😒 It is time to abolish the House of Lords as these so-called 'honours' now are belittled and starting to mean nothing. We need a new second chamber in Britain made up of representatives of the regions, like the Senate in the USA or Bundesrat in Germany.

Peace and Goodwill to All!

Another year has passed, and I again want to share best wishes and peace and goodwill to all, and particularly thanking those helping to keep us safe and healthy; in Britain that is those working in/for the NHS, RNLI, Coastguard, Ambulance, Police, Fire & Rescue, and any Emergency and Essential Services not already mentioned!

Much Respect.

Hastings Weekend, 23rd/24th December...

Fed up with shopping? As already advised in a previous blog, there's plenty happening at the Blue Reef Aquarium at Rock-a-Nore, including Santa Diving at 11.00 today.

Also, the nearby Hastings Fishermen's Museum, also in Rock-a-Nore Road, is open both days too, indeed, it is only closed on the 25th! See website.

In the town centre, there is still the Ice Rink to visit at Priory Meadow, if you can either skate, or don't mind getting a cold backside... See website.

On Hastings Pier, both days, there are Christmas Movies from 11.00 (website), and a Festive Trail for children, not to mention a brisk promenade!

Then, of course, there is always shopping in St Leonards, the town centre, or in the old town, if you need to buy late gifts! For example, in the old town, at the Black Market in George Street is the POP-UP Christmas Indoor Emporium, a chance to get late gifts there, perhaps, plus much more (website).

And, no doubt festivities all over the place, notably in pubs, but we should always remember that not everyone celebrates Christmas, notably those with health problems (see my earlier blog), and that many people will be working to provide emergency and other essential services, or to provide you with facilities that you would otherwise be denied on a public holiday.

So, my best wishes to everyone, whoever and whatever your beliefs, at this time of year, and please let us take over into 2018 the spirit of 'Peace and Goodwill' that usually exists, if only for a short time, during the festive season, indeed, let us make it a much better and ever improving world for the future of us all...
