Reclaim the Night and Sarah Everard R.I.P.

Following the sad death of Sarah Everard in London, and the campaign to hold a vigil on Clapham Common that the Police and Justice system appear to be trying to prevent (BBC), the campaign Reclaim the Night must not be forgotten (website). The photograph above is from a Reclaim the Night event in Brighton, and that campaign continues since being set up in 1977, justly demanding the right for women to use public spaces without fear, with its first marches on the 12th of November that year.

Reclaim the Night will continue to campaign, and my best wishes go to them, but right now I must share my thoughts and condolences with the family and friends of Sarah Everard, and with other women, and men, who suffer violence...

May Sarah rest in peace 😢
