Perpetrator in Custody & Muriel Matters House Reopens!

As I said in yesterdays blog, someone must have been upset by the Council, and that person is now in custody, I believe. Presumably kicked off the day before, and caught on CCTV, not only silly, but expensive too, for us, and for him/her!
Anyway, the windows are all boarded up now, so artificial light will be the order of the day there until new windows are installed, at our expense! I spoke with one of the lads boarding up, obviously nice emergency payout for them, and looked at the notices later on, which have to be exhibited so that the public is aware of what is going on, plus legally, for notice of the general election on the 4th of July (blog). As you can see below, Muriel Matters House is due to reopen today at 09.00.

Someone Is Upset!

Muriel Matters House this morning, windows to the side attacked too, but no other building nearby... I suspect someone is unhappy with the Council! The glass didn't shatter, despite what looks like a strong attempt, but glass this strengthened cannot be cheap, and we, the council tax payers, will be forking out for their replacements sadly.

At last, the heavy machinery/pumps have been removed opposite the Carlisle pub, and we have a clear promenade again...

Register to Vote: 30 hours left!

A final reminder that you don't need to take your poll card with you to the polling station when you vote on the 4th of July, when you help decide who wins at the General Election. However, you do need to take photo ID . If you turn up at the polling station without photo ID, you will not be allowed to vote, so get it now if you don't already have an acceptable method of ID, and don't want to lose your right to vote.

Acceptable photo ID includes an original (not photocopied) Passport, Driving Licence, Older or Disabled Persons' Bus Pass, Freedom Pass, other Concessionary Travel Cards and SmartPasses, PASS Card, and EEA ID cards. For full details of acceptable photo ID go to the Electoral Commission website.

If you don't have any photo ID that qualifies, you can apply for a Voter Authority Certificateproviding you are on the Electoral Register, at the Government website.

If you want your name to be added to the Electoral Register, go to the Government website, where you can register online, or, again, lose the right to vote. You have until 11.59pm on the 18th of June 2024 to register, but I would suggest registering as soon as possible, remember, this is the big election to decide who will run the country for the next 5 years!

The policy regarding photo ID was introduced last year, if you want further details, and of how it went for elections last year and by-elections, go to this Parliamentary Research Briefing.

For further details go to the Electoral Commission website. 👍

Don't lose your right to vote and don't forget people lost their lives fighting for your rights!

As I've said before, 2 elections in one year, what a waste of taxpayers' money! The Government should have had the General Election on the same day as the local elections, thus just have the one day's costs and not twice in one year. Also, it would have been interesting to see the results of local councils with a larger turnout than usual, oh well, Democracy...😒

World Crazy Golf Championships in Hastings this week!

If you've wandered along the seafront this week you'll have noticed that the Crazy Golf course appears busier than usual from quite early in the day. Well, this is because this weekend sees the World Crazy Golf Championships (website) return this weekend, and there's plenty of practice going on, with entrants from around the world, as far away from here as Australia and the USA!
From tomorrow (Thursday 6th) the crazy golf course will not be open to the general public, until it reopens after the Champiopnships finish Sunday evening. However, don't be alarmed if you want to play as the Pirate and Adventure golf courses will still be open to all throughout this period. There will be many excellent players competing in the championships, don't be surprised at the efficiency displayed, and also a few also-rans, like myself, but please don't laugh at us, we're trying our best. £thousands in prize money across many categories, good luck to all those who enter.
