I rarely dine out, but did so recently at Monellis, 43A George Street, TN34 3EA (website), just below the West Hill lift, after being invited to join a friend there after we'd imbibed a few beers beforehand... It was a pleasant day, before all this recent wind and rain arrived, and I have to admit much enjoyed, good food, good wine, good friendly service, good company, obviously, and other friends Paul and Debbie stopped to say "hello" as they passed by (they now live in Tenerife, so a wee bit of a surprise!).
Monellis specialise in 'traditional sourdough' and using ingredients that come from their home region of Puglia in southern Italy, and well worth visiting, enjoy!
